The Bitcoin Genesis Block Chart

Today is Part 2 of the Bitcoin series. We will discuss the Bitcoin Genesis Block Chart, which is the chart for the the Genesis Block of Bitcoin. Also known as Block 0. This is the first block in Bitcoin’s blockchain and the astrological chart for this event is equivalent to a Natal Chart.

Before I discuss the Bitcoin Genesis Block Chart itself, I want to go over a problem I encountered with working on cryptocurrency charts. This is a unique problem for an astrologer to have. We have exact times down to the second for all transactions that occur on the blockchain, but because Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous we usually don’t have the location when the transaction started. Typically, an astrologer has a problem with getting a time correct, not getting the location correct.

This is the problem we have with the Bitcoin Genesis Block Chart. Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin, never used his real name with anyone on the programming team. At the time of the Genesis Block was created we know he was working with one other programmer, but he created the first block himself. Because we don’t know his real name, we can’t pin point a location for him and this event. So the Bitcoin Genesis Block would only be suited for looking at the aspects between and the planets based on signs. You couldn’t assign any of the planet or sign combinations a house meaning.

Because all astrology programs need a location in order to work I assigned London, England as the location of this chart. There are two main reasons for this. First all timestamps on Bitcoin’s blockchain are in UTC, based on the 0 time zone for London, England. Second, there is a message encoded in the first block, that reads, “The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”. This is a reference to the headline of the London Times on January 3, 2009.

In another post I plan to look at some alternative locations for this chart based on various rumors I heard and try to interpret house meanings based on each location. I also want to do this as a way of narrowing down the search for Satoshi. But that would be beyond the scope of this post.

Looking at the Bitcoin Genesis Block Chart below, one of the first things a person notices is that there are a lot of planets in the earth signs, with a majority of those planets in Capricorn. So despite Bitcoin being branded as some ethereal internet money, it is very well grounded as shown in the chart.

In Part 1 of the Bitcoin series, I mentioned that the ruler of the Bitcoin could either be Mercury or Saturn. In the chart there is a mutual reception between the two planets using the old rulership scheme. I would also argue that Saturn in Virgo is the is the very definition of a proof-of-work blockchain.

Going thru the aspects by degree of orb, we have a 8 minute orb for a Sun-Ceres trine. This aspect is a difficult one to interpret since Ceres is associated more with food, motherhood, and transitions than anything else. However, I think this aspect represents Bitcoin decentralized software identity more than anything else. This is because Ceres also represents time-sharing. In myth she had to share her daughter, Persephone with Pluto for part of the year. In decentralized internet applications like Bitcoin computers share resources to make the application work.

The next closest aspect is a 1 degree orb between a Moon-Mars square. In this chart I would assign the Moon to mean public reaction to it. This is more a traditional interpretation for mundane astrology charts. Since Pluto also makes conjunction to Mars it gets dragged into this aspect too. For the Moon-Mars square I would interpret it as provoking a strong public reaction, that is often hostile to Bitcoin. Mixed in with Pluto this represent the public resisting the change Bitcoin will bring to economy (Capricorn). See the list of Bitcoin “Obituaries” to get an understanding of this aspect. Read some of them and feel the anger and hatred that it provokes in some people.

Another reason reason why the public will have a difficult time accepting the change is based on the next closest aspect. A 2 degree orb between a Venus-Pluto sextile. This is an easy to interpret as it means Bitcoin will change the concept of money. This was the clearly stated goal of what Satoshi wanted the program to do, create a peer-to-peer electronic version of cash (source).

Also within a 2 degree orb is a Moon-Mercury sextile. This means the public will be more comfortable with the underlining computer technology, then with Bitcoin itself. Most of the time that Bitcoin is mentioned in the news now, it is because it was the first application of the blockchain. The blockchain is a a type of database that can revolutionize other computer programs, particularly in communications and data management.

Saturn makes a opposition in a 3 degree orb of Uranus in Pisces. I would consider this aspect to represent a disruptive internet technology. And what is doing the disruption? The blockchain. The Sun is all making a 6 degree orb to Uranus, which would indicate that Bitcoin is known for or will be known for a disruptive technology.

Finally there is the out of sign 3 degree conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter. This is also a bit difficult to assign meaning to since Jupiter can represent a diverse number of things related to Bitcoin, like banking, investments (particularly with large sums of money), and growth. I Think that this aspect represents Bitcoin will cause a build out of computer related technology related to banking and the law.
