2020 Mercury Star Point – Time to Get Creative with Alchemy at Home

Mercury Star Points function similar to the Venus Star Points, except instead of dealing with love and money, Mercury relates more to your mind and inner alchemy. Gary Caton in his book, Hermetica Triptycha, relates the larger Mercury cycle through the elemental signs as an alchemic process which everyone can experience.

So long as you become conscious of the Mercury cycle, you can start the process of inner alchemy, which is the transmutation of the mind. By working through this process and changing the way your mind works, one can gain peace of mind, control of their emotions, a greater capacity to function in the world, and new outlook on life.

The point at which Mercury conjuncts the Sun is the most powerful point in the process. Because it is the same point in the sky that Mercury is at during the elongation, the point point furthest from the Sun. So during the retrograde cycle Mercury passes that point three times. So whatever degree this happens in becomes a powerful point in your chart, especially so if you have planets aspecting that point.

This conjunction occurs on June 30, 2020 at 10:50 PM EDT. In the Washington D.C. chart, which is valid for the entire US, the conjunction occurs in the 5^th House of Cancer.  There are two aspects to this Mercury-Sun conjunction. One is a sextile to Uranus in Taurus in the 2^nd House, but the cusp of the 3^rd House. The other other aspect is a trine to Ceres in Pisces and intercepted in the 1st House.

In the general sense, any inner alchemy one does during this time is going to be colored by the 5^th House and Cancer. This means creative work at home. With coronavirus restrictions active throughout the country, many people are still stuck at home. Even if there are less restrictions in your state, it is still likely that entertainment options are limited. Therefore the best solution is to entertain yourself and get creative!

The sextile to Uranus indicates that this might occur suddenly and unexpectedly when you get a solid idea.  The creative project may involve writing, since it’s on the cusp of the 3^rd House. Otherwise it will likely be an idea related to how you can make money. With the economic downturn, how to make additional money will be on the mind of most.

The other aspect is a trine to Ceres in the 1^st House.  This indicates that what you do needs to be something to nurture yourself on a spiritual level too. This is where the inner alchemy is the strongest, by changing the way your nurture yourself spiritually and your subconscious mind. The sign is intercepted, so it will be more difficult to achieve than normal. But for those willing to do the work, it will be very rewarding.
